The Kents Hill Varsity Girls Tennis program focuses on skills, fundamentals and fun. Players come to the program with a variety of skills and the goal is for each player to improve upon her skills to become a fundamentally better player. At the same time, it is important for the girls on the team to learn to have fun playing the lifelong sport of tennis. Preparation for interscholastic competition, along with stressing skill development, focuses on strategies for playing in both singles and doubles matches. The girls on the varsity team get the opportunity to develop confidence and to learn sportsmanship and tennis etiquette by competing against other schools.
The team participates in the MAISAD League and has won the League Championship for three years running. In addition, the girls play against a number of local public high school teams in exhibition matches before our MAISAD league season begins. Several players have gone on to play Division III college tennis.
