Kents Hill Girls Hockey Joins Newest NEPSAC Conference

The Kents Hill School Girls Ice Hockey Team, including teams from five other independent schools, have joined together to establish the newest conference in the New England Preparatory School Athletic Council (NEPSAC). The Huskies enter the yet-to-be-named conference with Austin Preparatory School (MA), Northfield-Mount Hermon School (MA), North Yarmouth Academy (NYA), Pomfret School (CT), and Worcester Academy (MA). The creation of the league was a collaborative effort from the participating schools in recognition of the inequity between the girls and boys ice hockey programs. The Huskies will be eligible for conference postseason play and conference awards for the first time since joining the NEPSAC.

“This is an exciting time for girls ice hockey!” said KHS Director of Athletics, Becky Kimball. “Our student-athletes compete so hard to not have a conference championship at the end of their season. We are finally leveling up to the boys side, and it feels good to move the needle and support women’s athletics.”

All six conference teams will play each other twice a season in a home and away contest, along with their out-of-conference scheduled games. Only conference games will count toward postseason seeding.

“The new conference will have a great impact on our team and upcoming girls seasons. I look forward to chasing after that championship title!” -Rowan W. '26
