Community Partner Merit Scholarship Program

We're proud to offer a $12,000 merit scholarship to children of all Colby College and MaineGeneral employees who are admitted to Kents Hill School. The scholarship is renewable each year through graduation and does not eliminate a family from consideration for need-based financial aid.

"For close to 200 years Kents Hill has provided transformative experiences. Through partnerships with other outstanding institutions with roots in Maine, we are positioned to deliver the real and relevant experiences that success in an uncertain world demands."

- Christopher S. Cheney, Head of School

  • 4D Academic Curriculum

Kents Hill School's innovative Four-Dimensional (4D) Academic Curriculum extends far beyond the classroom. By placing equal importance on knowledge, skills, character, and reflection throughout all aspects of a student's life at Kents Hill, we are taking steps to build an experience that is balanced, purposeful, and impactful.

By partnering with faculty mentors who function as "lead learners," students are challenged to learn about themselves and others, their talents and strengths, and how they can make a difference.
  • Advisory

Our advisory program is about making connections that last a lifetime. Each student is assigned a faculty advisor at the beginning of the school year who is dedicated to providing support and guidance, both in formal gatherings and impromptu meetings.  Whether a student is seeking advice on academics, athletics, social issues, or simply needs to know that someone is rooting for them, advisors are there.

Advisors meet individually with students during a period built into the daily schedule and share monthly lunches and/or dinners with their groups, ensuring that students are both recognized as individuals and connected to a larger group. Advisors are also the main point of contact between Kents Hill School and parents, ensuring that families are involved, informed, and engaged no matter where they are in the world.
  • The Learning Skills Program

We believe that with the right people, and in the right environment, students will accomplish extraordinary things. The Learning Skills Program pairs students with an adult mentor who is fully committed to ensuring that they thrive in all aspects of school life and are prepared to tackle college and beyond with self-confidence, self-determination, and self-advocacy. Level 1 features private, one-on-one time with a Learning Specialist while Level 2 features small group instruction based on common learning profiles.
  • Postgraduate Year

A Postgraduate Year at Kents Hill School is the ideal way to sharpen knowledge, nurture personal growth, and evaluate personal and professional goals before college. An individualized program and faculty mentor tackle what students need in order to be successful while rallying around what they love including art, athletics, and extracurricular activities.
  • English Language Support

Our English Language Support (ELS) program provides targeted language- and skills-based support for students whose first language is not English. Students strengthen their language abilities through an introduction to academic content and fortify their skills as they enter mainstream classes. The program is divided into two tracks: a first-year program that builds language skills and a transitional support program.
