Bearce Hall is one of the oldest buildings on campus. The first floor is home to the Admissions Office, Head of School's office, and Assistant Head of School's office. The lobby showcases a stunning, hand-painted mural that depicts the history and traditions of Kents Hill School. The lobby also features our revered school seal, inset in marble.
The second floor of Bearce Hall is home to the College Counseling Office, Dean of Academics Office, Dean of Students Office, Director of Community Life Office, and Deering Chapel, a space for large group meetings and quiet reflection. The second and third floor also feature numerous classrooms utilized by the Social Studies Department.
One of the most historic on campus, Ricker Hall is home to the English Department, English Language Learner (ELL) Department, Student Center, and Bookstore. Students involved in our fencing program and other extracurricular activities enjoy the state-of-the-art Mark S. Alcaide Studio, which can be further utilized as a full multipurpose community space.
Home to boys, as well as six faculty families, Sampson Hall is our largest dormitory. Residential floors are divided by student grade and age, and feature individual programming designed to support community development and identity. It also houses the Cochrane Library, Information Technology Offices, and Bass Visual Arts Center.
Dunn Science Center is home to the Mathematics Department, Modern Languages Department, and Science Departments. This is also the place to go late at night to catch the best views of the Northern Lights, the Milky Way and many stars and planets, thanks to a 10-inch Celestron reflecting telescope in the observatory.
Opened in 2012, the Akin Learning Center is a modern, 10,000 square-foot building is designed to be a warm and intimate space for students to learn, grow, discover, and play. Home to the Learning Skills Program, building amenities include nine classrooms with adjacent offices, two interactive study rooms with flexible seating, kitchen, library, and living room with a working fireplace.
Opened in 2001, the Harold and Ted Alfond Athletics Center is hub of Kents Hill School athletics. In addition to the Joy and Rist Bonnefond Hockey Arena, an NHL-size ice surface, the complex houses a state-of-the-art fitness room, basketball court, athletic training room, conference room, and locker rooms.
Home to a girls dormitory and three faculty families, Maine Hall is located next to the Bibby and Harold Alfond Dining Commons and Health Center. Maine Hall features a large, comfortable common area with a fireplace where students can watch television, play pool, or piano.
The Bodman Performing Arts Center at Newton Hall is a true community space and where our daily Morning Meeting is held. In addition to theater and musical performances in the Vivian Russell Theater, the space hosts numerous guest speakers and features a state-of-the-art recording studio.
The Joanne and Dick O'Connor Alpine Training Center is a tremendous resource for Kents Hill School students as well as young skiers in the local community. Home of the Kents Hill School Competitive Alpine and Snowboarding Programs, the facility includes two on-surface lifts, beginner to intermediate skiing and snowboarding terrain, state-of-the-art alpine race training timing and equipment, full-service snow-making and grooming, and more. The Liz Cross Mellon Lodge, with its beautiful views of the center and Torsey Pond, is the center of coaching and gathering place for weekend events.
Opened in 2017, the $6.5M Bibby and Harold Alfond Dining Commons is a modern, comfortable space where all members of our community can connect. In addition to a central dining area, the Commons features a "marketplace" of food preparation and service, individual themed serving stations, flexible seating, floor-to-ceiling windows, fireplace lounge, Gruss-Bard Gallery, expansive patio, dedicated meeting spaces, and seamless exterior landscaping.
