
KENTS HILL'S 184TH COMMENCEMENT ... Just as Commencement was about to begin, the clouds lifted and the sun shone for the 76 members of the Class of 2008. Mercy Palamuleni '04 was the Commencement Speaker for Kents Hill's 184th Commencement on Saturday, June 7th, in the Hansen Quadrangle. Mercy, who hails from Malawi, was recently graduated from Wake Forest University with a degree in Mathematical Economics. Seniors Matthew Roy, Patrick McAleer and Huyette Spring were chosen by their classmates to give the Senior Commencement Address. AND THE OSCAR GOES TO ... Kents Hill's Digital Film class recently hosting the 2008 KHS Film Festival, showcasing 14 student-made films from the year. The Best Chase Scene Oscar went to the movie Sampson Shakedown, while the Best Film Oscar went to Fakeline. Ellen Alsop '09 won Best Director for Basement Massacre and Got A Dollar. Derek Morin '10 and Mr. Gibson won The Funniest Moment Oscar for their keyboard duel in The Cheater, while Mr. Hodgin won the Oscar for Best Actor in The Final Countdown and The Cheater. Congratulations to all the extraordinary actors and directors.

KENTS HILL COMPLETES ONE OF THE MOST SUCCESSFUL ATHLETIC YEARS IN SCHOOL HISTORY ... Congratulations to all our athletes and coaches for an extraordinary year of sportsmanship and accomplishments. Kents Hill won 11 MAISAD Championships, 5 NEPSAC Tournament bids and 1 NEPSAC Championship. More importantly, Kents Hill was awarded the Sportsmanship Award by our league in both the Fall and Winter seasons. (Spring is still being calculated.) Another accolade ... senior and varsity lacrosse player Huyette Spring, pictured here with Coach Brubaker, earned US Lacrosse Academic All American Honors. COMMUNITY SERVICE DAY ... All students and faculty left campus for a day to help out in communities both local and far away. Everyone did something: raked, mowed, stacked wood, served in soup kitchens. sang in senior centers, cleared trails, gardened or worked in a food bank.

PHYSICS IS FUN DAY ... Physics students recently put theory into practice at Funtown Splashtown's annual Physics Day. And boy, was it fun!


MODEL UNITED NATIONS TEAM WALKS OFF WITH AWARDS. The Model UN team recently competed at the MUN competition at the University of Southern Maine, walking off with four Honorable Mentions. Senior Isaac Kreisman was awarded the prestigious Bruce Steadman Under-Secretary General Book prize for oustanding merit. See the story below.
