NEWS & EVENTS CONGRATULATIONS TO CHERYL HOWE MOORE '88 ... who has had a photograph accepted into the Maine Capital Area Camera Club's annual invitational photography exhibit. Entitled "Mystical Maine Waters," the exhibit highlights Maine's various water sources and includes black and white photography, digital images and color film prints. The show opens Lewiston Auburn's newest visual arts gallery, the Community Gallery, at 221 Lisbon Street. The opening reception is on Friday, May 16th, at 7pm, and the show runs until June 13th, 2008. CONGRATULATIONS TO OWEN GRAY '70 ... who will open his 8th solo show, entitled "Paintings of Aquatic Confrontations" at the Blue Mountain Gallery, in New York City on April 22nd, 2008. The show will run until May 17th, and the Opening Reception will take place on Thursday, April 24th, 2008, from 5-8pm. The gallery is located at 530 W. 25th Str., 4th floor, in Chelsea. OWEN GRAY '70 OPENS 8TH SOLO SHOW IN NEW YORK CITY

Owen Gray '70 will open his eighth solo show at The Blue Mountain Gallery in Chelsea, New York City, on April 22nd, 2008. The show will run until May 17th, and the Opening Reception will take place from 5-8pm, on Thursday, April 24th.

Entitled "Paintings of Aquatic Confrontations," Gray's new paintings are teaming with nature trying to survive. Mussels blackening water are juxtaposed with snakes, frogs and fantastic symbolic creatures. Inspired by Owen's imagination, these compositions of water and nature, thick with foliage and animals, evoke a sense of danger and playfulness derived from his dreams of swimming with aquatic creatures. Influences from Peter Brueghel, Hieronymus Bosch and 17th century Dutch still life are also evident in Gray's subject matter.

ALEIGH MILLS' BASKETBALL NUMBER RETIRED

1/14/2008

In a moving ceremony on January 12th, 2008, Kents Hill retired Aleigh Mills' 06's basketball number, and renamed the Varsity Girls MVP Award, the Aleigh Mills Award in her honor.

The bleachers were packed with standing room only as Headmaster Rist Bonnefond and Athletic Director James Smucker spoke eloquently of Aleigh's contributions to basketball and to the school.
